No kidding! I have a B.A. in creative writing from Santa Fe University of Art and Design and an M.F.A. in fiction from Vermont College of Fine Arts. I wrote my thesis on humor writing and write stories that often aren’t funny at all.
Before all that I was the senior web editor for Details magazine (RIP), the market editor of The Architect’s Newspaper, the editor of the Sundance Channel’s blog, a ghost writer for TED speakers, and a freelance art, design, food, and travel writer for Print, Imprint, Interview, Frieze, Art in America, The Paris Review’s blog The Daily, Cool Hunting, Core77, and a slew of nerdy little sites you’ve probably never heard of.
