No kidding! I have a B.A. in creative writing and studio art from Santa Fe University of Art and Design and an M.F.A. in fiction from Vermont College of Fine Arts. I wrote my thesis on satire + humor writing, though I often write stories that aren’t funny at all.
I’m the founder + director of Eye on Design, a not-for-profit website and magazine that publishes stories about designers and the issues they care about. From straight-up to satirical reporting, we love design, and try not to take it all too seriously. Published by AIGA, the professional association for design.
Before that I co-founded food + design platform MOLD while working as a senior web editor at Conde Nast (Details magazine, RIP). Prior to that I was the market editor of The Architect’s Newspaper, the editor of the Sundance Channel’s blog, a ghost writer for TED speakers, and a freelance art + culture writer for Print, Imprint, Interview, Frieze, Art in America, The Paris Review’s blog The Daily, Cool Hunting, Core77, and a slew of nerdy little niche sites.
